What is the difference between CEREC and traditional porcelain crowns?
CEREC is an amazing new process that allows Dr. Schaffer to restore and repair teeth in just one visit. CEREC uses strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials, which are created by a machine in our office.
What can CEREC be used for?
Dr. Schaffer uses CEREC to create crowns, fillings, veneers, inlays, onlays for repairing decayed or damaged teeth. Dr. Schaffer will determine whether you are a good candidate for CEREC.
What will happen during my appointment?
Dr. Schaffer will coat your teeth with a safe, tasteless powder. A 3D camera is used to scan your teeth using computer imagery. That information is transferred to a special machine here in our office, which creates the ceramic piece on the spot.
Will my CEREC restoration look and feel like my other teeth?
Yes. Your CEREC restoration will be shaped and colored to perfectly match your natural teeth. You can brush and floss your CEREC restoration just as you do your other teeth.
Are CEREC restorations covered by my insurance?
Most CEREC restorations are at least partially covered by dental insurance. Check with your insurance provider for complete information.
